Creative Polymer Solutions (CPS), the manufacturer behind Accufoam and Rugged Coatings, is proud to announce that it has been named a recipient of the Birmingham Business Journal’s Environmental Leadership Award for the second year in a row.
Presented as part of the BBJ’s Leadership in Manufacturing Awards, the Environmental Leadership Award recognizes Birmingham-area manufacturers that are making meaningful contributions to sustainability, innovation, and operational excellence. CPS was recognized for its continued commitment to developing high-performance polyurethane systems that support energy efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and advance responsible manufacturing practices.
Since launching in 2016, CPS has produced more than 270 million pounds of polyurethane systems used across residential, commercial, and industrial markets. Its spray foam insulation products help improve building performance by reducing heating and cooling energy demands, with some systems helping reduce energy use by as much as 40%.
Beyond product performance, CPS continues to invest in research and development focused on more sustainable raw materials and next-generation chemistry. This includes the use of plant-based materials and carbon dioxide captured from the atmosphere, helping reduce reliance on fossil-based inputs. Several CPS products have also earned UL GREENGUARD Gold Certification, demonstrating compliance with strict chemical emissions standards and supporting healthier indoor environments.

“This recognition is an incredible honor, especially for the second consecutive year,” said James Hammon, Chief Technology Officer of Creative Polymer Solutions. “At CPS, environmental leadership is not a one-time initiative. It is part of how we approach product development, manufacturing, and long-term growth. We are proud to create solutions that perform in the field while supporting a more sustainable future for our customers and the industries we serve.”
CPS has also made internal production upgrades that have increased capacity by more than 15%, allowing the company to continue scaling efficiently while investing in workforce training and operational improvement.
Winning the Environmental Leadership Award for a second year reinforces CPS’s ongoing role as a leader in sustainable manufacturing and innovative polymer technology. As the company continues to grow, CPS remains committed to delivering dependable products, advancing green chemistry, and helping customers build more energy-efficient, high-performing structures.
